Who is Dr. Kay?
Dr. Kay has been working with children who have developmental disabilities for 30 years. As a recognized expert in the field of autism and child development, Dr. Kay began working with children with autism while at the College of Wiliam and Mary in the 1990’s, when the field started gaining traction nationally. Dr. Kay received her Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialty in behavior therapy at Connecticut College, she went on to earn her Ph.D. at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Thoughout her career, Dr. Kay worked with children to help them fulfill their potential in language, academic, and daily living skills using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methodology. She has additional training and professional expertise in autism, language development, reading disabilities (dyslexia), ADHD, and other developmental disabilties.
Dr. Kay has personally faciliated the sleep hygiene and toilet training for hundreds of children. Additionally, Dr. Kay has worked with families and schools to reduce both mild and severe behavior problems in both typically developing children and children with special needs.
Dr. Kay has completed internships at the New England Center for Children and the May Institute. She served at the May Institute for a decade and was the founding clinician and Executive Director for the May Center for Child Development, a private special education school in Western Massachusetts.
Most recently, Dr. Kay has spent the last 12 years at Baystate Children’s Hospital serving as Chief of Developmental and Behaviorial Pediatrics, and Pediatric Psychologist. Dr. Kay has also mentored hundreds of pediatric residents as an Assistant Professor of Devlopmental Behavioral Pediatrics for UMass CHAN Medical School.
Dr. Kay is a Licensed Psychologist in Massachusetts as well as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Licensed Behavior Analyst. She is looking forward to supporting your family!
