Program Reviews
At times, parents wonder whether their child’s progress is maximal. Some children in ABA programs need reviews of their programs to ensure that the most effective strategies are being utilized and that the most meaningful goals are targeted. Contemporary ABA is a science and an art. I have worked with children using ABA techniques for over 30 years and can review learning and behavior reduction programs. As a psychologist and BCBA-D, I’m delighted to work collaboratively with the family and behavior analyst. Testing related to progress monitoring for children with and without autism is also offered. In behavior analysis we closely examine the progress of the child over times. As a psychologist, I can also provide testing that tells us how the child is doing compared to their peers as well as developmental levels.
Sometimes, children need to have their IEP reviewed to determine whether the goals and services proposed are likely to help the child make appropriate progress. I can help parents determine whether goals are objective and whether the progress that the child is making is enough to result in an optimal outcome. Reports with both testing and a review of the IEP are often very helpful for advocacy efforts.
Sometimes, when a child exits a center based ABA program, the public schools see how much progress the child has made and do not realize how much support that progress required. I can help advocate for strong services to remain in place for children who are still delayed after exiting an ABA program. These children may still need 1:1 ABA therapy in order to continue their journey successfully.
